Long Stems is thrilled to have been invited to participate in this year's A Date With A Plate charity event, hosted by Moulin at Sherman Mills in the trendy East Falls section of Philadelphia. The two-day gala celebrates the art of table décor, and includes a patron party, informative lectures, a raffle, and silent benefit auction for ALS research, and more. All this is accompanied by scrumptious gourmet cuisine provided by Brûlée Catering. Within the spacious and modern Sherman Mills building, florists, designers, decorators, event planners and caterers are given the opportunity to showcase their talents by creating a one-of-a-kind table setting and surrounding space. The two-day event provides ample time to explore each contributor's unique vision.
Our design for this year's A Date With A Plate, Serene Japanese Gardens, originated in owner Keith's own backyard. Keith is an avid gardener, and when he's not creating beautiful designs at Long Stems, you can usually find him at home maintaining his garden and koi pond, the main inspiration for our lush, natural setting.
ABOUT OUR INSPIRATION:
Drawing from the idealized and self-contained ponds and gardens of the Japanese style, we have designed a multisensory tablescape that encapsulates a dynamic yet peaceful environment. Stylistic asymmetry, moving water, and living trees, flowers, and mosses interact to create an indoor interpretation of a natural setting. Shifts in scale suggest a larger landscape within a limited space, and a variety of vessels allow us to indulge our interests in horticulture and unique materials.
Originating from owner Keith Bell's backyard koi pond and garden, Long Stems strives to capture the essence of a tranquil natural space with our serene garden table design.
In addition to our own design, we also provided flowers for one of our stylish flower shop customers who is also exhibiting, Robin Batoff. Her shimmering seder table is an elegant contrast to the contemporary design of our setting, and we were so happy to provide bright and bold arrangements to complete her table!
Check out the image galleries below for some photos of our and Robin's tables. More photos to come!
A Date With A Plate continues today from 11am to 3pm.
