Summer time at Long Stems means locally grown summer flowers! We make the trek every week to Lancaster County to stop at some of our favorite flower farms. We head there every tuesday morning to pick up sunflowers, dahlia, celosia, lisianthus, stock, dusty miller and so much more.
We toured the 10 acre farm with John Glick and his son Malon. John and his family are Amish, like many farmers in Lancaster County. The Amish live a simpler life without many forms of technology. Malon helped us through most of our tour and was very informed on all the flower varieties just like his father.
John grows a variety of flowers and vegetables. They supply many farmers markets with fresh produce daily. The local flowers grown in Lancaster are some of the best we get all year.
These flowers are picked hours before we use them in designs, making them the freshest flowers possible! Not only are these flowers extremely fresh but they are grown in the prefect conditions. The peonies, sunflowers, and dahlias are the best we get all year long. We get the best big sunflowers from this farm!
